About Arasu FM

Government of India, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology has granted permission to start Community Radio. Our Arasu FM 90.4 MHz (Community Radio) was set up in 2017 by our parent organization Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam.

Our CRS was established with the vision to improve the health education, environment and agriculture and provide awareness and guidance to young people and community members. We strive to create an impact in our target community through different projects and effective strategies.

The Arasu CRS has majorly focus on the themes like Good Life and Well Being, Personal Hygiene and Sanitation, Pollution Free Environment, Climate Change, Awareness programs on various kinds of Pollution, Awareness programs on Nutritional Food and Mother feeding, Awareness programs on Cancer, Awareness programs on COVID 19 and Vaccination, etc.

Along with broadcasting, we effectively use narrowcasting. We also collaborate with leading NGOs across the country like SMART, UNICEF with CRA, Mohan Foundation and The Rise Foundation, etc. and collaborate with them to run the projects like Election awareness, Covid awareness and Climate Change awareness, Organ donation, Nutrition awareness, Mother feeding awareness, Hygiene & Sanitation awareness in our community.

Above 10 villages – Kovilachery, Annakudi, Kallapuliyur, Thiruvisanallur, Veppathur, Koranattu Karuppur, and Cholapuram – fall in our broadcast range. As per the census reports collected from the local bodies, these villages have a total population of around 49,800. From this outreach potential, we have an active listener base of around 10,000 people.
